I set the BIOS to START THE PC when power was applied. I had a REMOTE CONTROLLED projector in port1 (Master) and the PC was in a slave port. Once power turned on to the MASTER receptacle, all others would power on.

I purchased a POWER STRIP that in the first receptacle was MASTER to all slave receptacles. I had a PC way up on a very high shelf, serving a Golf Simulator. I like my first idea because I did this in the past. It would turn the laptop on at anytime you needed.Īlso there is Wake on WLAN, which should wake a laptop if powered off using the WLAN card too. So if you can control the power cord by manually plugging in or a REMOTE control of the power strip. I fought with Dell and forced them to take all of the TB16's we purchased back, they're literal trash.Ĭhecked out the link and couldn't believe it, looks like that would work.

They really need an LED to indicate the system is doing something. 50% of the time when the computer is off though, but then again when I plug the dock in, the system turns on. I know our TB16 requires a plug into the system as well to power it, and I would hope dell doesn't disable the WD15 working on a system since it is marketed as also working with 3rd party systems. I don't know if the WD15 works on the precision systems, but you might be able to plug the 180/240W into the system and then also just plug in the dock. There are times where the dock just straight up stops working (plugging it into the system does nothing), restarting both doesn't fix it, I just have to unplug it and wait for like 30 minutes before it starts working. If it makes you feel better the WD15 docks (the USB C ones) are only marginally better.
